Hummingbirds!

Panama is home to about 59 species of hummingbirds. Most hummingbirds in Panama do not migrate. However, some hummingbirds do over-winter between southern Mexico and northern Panama, and migrate in warmer months to the United States and Canada.

Fiery-throated Hummingbirds

The birds in the following gallery are Fiery-throated Hummingbirds. They are a brilliant, medium-sized hummingbird known for displaying almost every color of the rainbow on its throat and breast. These birds are found exclusively in the high-altitude mountain and cloud forests of western Panama and Costa Rica. The extra light used when taking these photographs really brings out their colors.

The Fiery-throated Hummingbird in the following two videos is taking a rain shower bath. It is definitely having a good time and enjoying the rain! Try to watch this without smiling!
